Cllr Elliott paddles for the Pride of Whitton

Alongside Whitton residents and members of the Whitton Lions Rugby Club Councillor Gareth Elliott took part on the Twickenham Alive Dragon Boat Race. In a boat suitable named The Pride of Whitton we battled against three other boats to a humble fourth place (out of four).

Of course it is the taking part that counts and it was a great day in celebration of the Jubilee and once again is a shining example of the London Borough of Richmond’s community spirit. With hundreds of people coming out to watch the event was great fun and I was very honoured to be part of it. However, I think I have some rowing practive to put in if I am to join again as I think I was a lot wetter than I should have been. Oh well – well done to everyone.

Special note needs to go the honour of having in our team the local friendly bar man, Jacob, from the Prince Albert who put in a sterling performance.
