A brand new youth centre to be opened in Whitton will provide children and young people with access to a gym, cinema evenings, computers, and a youth café as well as vital one-to-one support and group work programmes for the borough’s most vulnerable youngsters.
Richmond Council is delighted to unveil its exciting plans that will see up to 60 children pass through the doors of the £365,563 Whitton Youth Hub in Britannia Lane, behind Barclays Bank. The building, previously used to deliver adults’ services, will be transformed when work begins next month and will open in time for the new school year in September.
Highlights of the Whitton Youth Hub include:
- Hall/social area
- Personal development training rooms
Cllr Gareth Elliott, Conservative Councillor for Whitton, said:
"The Liberal Democrats made many promises to the youth of Whitton yet failed to deliver. With this new youth centre we are delivering and what a centre it is. Spacious, open and packed with facilities this centre is a fantastic hub for Whitton's young people."
Cllr Christine Percival, Cabinet Member for Health and Children’s Services, said:
“Our children and young people are the future of this borough and they deserve as much support as we can give them. I am delighted that we are in a position to open a brand new youth centre in Whitton and so too are the young people, their families, and the local community.”
