Whitton Rest Room Safe Under the Conservatives

At the Full Council meeting on Tuesday 26th November the Conservative administration confirmed that Whitton's rest room, so important to our town's senior citizens, is safe and will remain so under its library improvement scheme.

Following a spurious petition by local opposition groups suggesting Whitton Library was to be axed, a claim that was roundly rejected at the Council, Whitton's Conservative Councillor Gareth Elliott sought to allay fears regarding the rest stop by a asking question about its future.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Cabinet Member for Environment and Planning, replied that she recognised the important function this service provides to Whitton's senior citizens and that it would continue to form a central part of Whitton's library plans going forward.
